Hood River wins nailbiter against Centennial 29-28
GIRLS BASKETBALL -- Freshman Jody Kunigel sinks game-winner in final minute
The Hood River girls basketball made the big plays down the stretch to steal a 29-28 win away from Centennial on Friday night.
Trailing by four points, Hood River powered its comeback by holding Centennial scoreless through the final five minutes of the game. Hood River closed to within 28-27 on a 3-pointer by Meagan Clark, then moved ahead with :46 on the clock when freshman Jody Kunigel sunk a short jumper from the baseline.
'It wasn't really a play,' Clark said. 'She just got the ball, put her shoulder down and scored.'
Centennial had a chance to answer with 17 seconds left, but a deflected pass in the final moments prevented it from getting a shot into the air.
Jordin Ketelsen paced Centennial with 16 points, hitting 5 of 9 (.555) from inside the arc and swishing all three of her foul shots.
