Bystanders wounded, teens arrested after knife fight

Gresham Police arrested two suspects after a gang-related fight resulted in multiple stabbings. The fight erupted shortly after midnight on Saturday, Jan. 12, inside a convenience store at 162nd Avenue and Stark Street.
Edward Perez, 19, of Portland, and a 16-year-old suspect, also of Portland, assaulted a 17-year-old victim whom they believed belonged to a rival gang. A bystander intervened, and the suspects dragged her out of the store and assaulted her. The bystander fled the scene and police could not locate or identify her. A 19-year-old woman then tried to intervene and was stabbed.
Both of the identified victims received treatment for superficial wounds.
Police easily located and arrested the suspects shortly after arriving on the scene. Perez is charged with third-degree assault, and the 16-year-old suspect is charged with second-degree assault.
