Donation - Firefighters had aided Charlotte Schulz, now deceased, after she fell at her home in 2005
A longtime Banks resident who was aided by firefighters after shc fell in her Pihl Road home eight years ago, has willed about $160,000 to the Banks Fire District 13.
Charlotte Schulz, who died in May 2006, left a quarter of her estate to the district, according to her nephew, Richard Ritthaler of Camas, Wash.
'She was really impressed with the care and attention she received from the Banks firefighters,' Ritthaler said.
Banks Fire Chief Brian Coussens was unsure how the money would be used. However, he was thrilled about the contribution, which he described as the largest single donation 'ever.'
'She fell and we went and helped her out,' Coussens said of Schulz. 'It was nothing out of the ordinary in my mind.
'I guess she must have appreciated it.'
