Students go 'Across the Universe'
Last week was the first week back after winter break for students in the Oregon Trail School District, but teachers at Sandy wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. Many students had tests and homework within the first few days back.
Snowriders started the second day back. Snowriders is a club for skiers and snowboarders who go to Mt. Hood Meadows every Wednesday after school until about 10 p.m. The late nights don't discourage the nearly 50 students from hitting the slopes for six weeks.
Wintercourt is also on the agenda for this week. It is on Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. at the commons.
Students had very little time to get back in the swing of things before they needed to think about buying their tickets. The school is trying a new system for selling tickets to dances; the tickets are only $7 in the first week, and $10 the last week. This change occurred to try to prevent a mad rush of students trying to buy their tickets the Thursday before the dance.
The theme for this year's dance is 'Across the Universe.' The coronation assembly was on Monday during tutorial, and King and Queen will be announced at the boys basketball game against Centennial on Friday during half time.
There is also no school on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
