Winter Hawks

Next: The Winter Hawks (9-35-0-1), who just split games at Prince George, play at Everett tonight and then welcome Seattle at 7 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Coliseum. It's the annual '$10,000 Dash for Cash' night. On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Hawks will play Spokane at 2 p.m. at the coliseum.

• Portland won for only the third time in 21 road games Wednesday, as Radim Valchar scored the third-period tying goal and the lone shootout goal in the 3-2 victory. The Hawks actually rallied from 2-0 down; it's the team's first win when trailing after two periods.

The Hawks' other road wins came at Everett on Oct. 5 (3-0) and Medicine Hat on Nov. 2 (4-3).

• Tyler Swystun was booed every time he touched the puck at Prince George. Fans apparently don't like the fact that he refused to play for the Cougars after being picked by them in the bantam draft. He got traded to Medicine Hat, and then Portland.
