Forums target Fairview police staffing

Fairview Police Chief Ken Johnson will hold presentations to address staffing level options for the Fairview Police Department at both noon and 6 p.m. (same presentation repeated), Monday, Jan. 21, at Fairview City Hall Council Chambers, 1300 N.E. Village St. This forum is geared toward business owners, managers and related community partners.

A community forum for the general public will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Fairview Community Center, 300 Harrison St.

At each presentation, Chief Johnson will offer an analysis on trends and staffing levels necessary to meet those needs. After presenting this information to City Council, Johnson feels getting pubic response and input to his recommendations is the critical next step.

'As the city begins to celebrate our centennial, it is appropriate to look toward the future,' Johnson said in a statement. 'Public safety has and will continue to be one of the top priorities of our elected officials and our citizens. The upcoming forums provide a unique opportunity to have an open and honest dialog about the future of public safety in Fairview.'
