The county will hold an open house about the upcoming Southwest 185th Avenue improvement project on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Aloha High School Cafeteria, 18550 S.W. Kinnaman Road.
Led by the department of land use and transportation, the project will improve the road's mostly curbless, ditch-lined streets between Tualatin Valley Highway and Kinnaman Road to increase safety and traffic capacity. Improvements will include bike lanes, sidewalks, improved storm drainage, a water quality/detention facility, street lighting and bus pullouts, along with traffic signal improvements at Southwest Kinnaman Road.
The goal of the open house is to introduce the project to the neighbors, collect any initial community feedback and encourage future public involvement. Preliminary design options will be developed this spring after the open house.
The project will be funded by local property taxes as part of Washington County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP). Construction is anticipated in 2009.
