First-half lead disappears for Mt. Hood

COLLEGE BASKETBALL -- Hot shooting streak lifts Clackamas to a win

Mt. Hood lost a fast-paced 61-53 decision to Clackamas in women's basketball action Wednesday night.

The Saints' defense held the visiting Cougars to just 2-of-17 (.117) shooting from 3-point range in the first half, en route to building a six-point lead at the break.

But that all changed in the second half when the sharp-shooting SooJin Han led the Clackamas comeback by sinking four from long-range, including a game-clinching 3-pointer to put Clackamas up by six with 40 seconds to play.

'We have a bunch of kids who can shoot,' Clackamas coach Jim Martineau said. 'It was just a matter of time before we started hitting them.'

Jacki Cunningham scored a team-high 12 points.

• Clackamas earned a 71-57 victory in the boys game, again led by solid 3-point shooting. Guard J.C. Cook was a perfect 5-for-5 from behind the arc, as the Cougars built a 21-point lead early in the second half. Demarcus Branch led Mt. Hood with 16 points.
