Friday, Feb. 1 is National Wear Red Day to show your support for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement to promote awareness and fight heart disease.
Now in its fifth year, the association has raised awareness of the fact that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. Still too many women are not aware of this disease and the actions they can take to reduce their risk. You can help by sending an e-mail to your friends and family and wear red Friday.
In support of the Go Red For Women program, Macy's, a national sponsor, will offer an all-day savings pass for customers wearing red. For those who forget their red, Macy's is offering an all-day savings pass to those who make a $2 donation in the store to the American Heart Association. All contributions received will benefit the Go Red For Women movement.
Going Red is about finding your own way to take part in the fight against heart disease in women.
Whether it's supporting local events, visiting a healthcare provider, purchasing products that support the cause or supporting National Wear Red Day, people are encouraged to do something special to love their hearts.
Women can learn more about the Go Red for Women initiative and take their Go Red Heart CheckUp at www.GoRedForWomen.org .
