Next: Defenseman Brodie Merrill and forwards Dan Dawson and Ryan Powell will play in the National Lacrosse All-Star Game Sunday in Edmonton.
The LumberJax (3-7), who lost at Calgary last weekend, play host to Colorado at 7:30 p.m. March 20.
• Calgary beat Portland 15-12, taking off in the second half. Ray Guze got a high-sticking major penalty with Calgary up 9-8, and the Roughnecks scored twice. 'It was an even game except for that (power play),' coach Derek Keenan says.
Keenan says the Jax 'weren't very good defensively' for the first time this season. 'We kind of abandoned our principles, out of frustration,' he says. 'We had many transition opportunities that didn't go in the net. We have an unbelievable penchant for hitting goal posts. It's just ridiculous.'
• Dawson had three goals and two assists and 'he hit a couple goalposts,' Keenan says. He leads Portland with 20 goals and 46 points. … Powell had two goals and four assists. He leads Portland with 27 assists. … Merrill fought Calgary tough guy Ryan McNish. … Scott Stewart sat out the Calgary game with a back injury; David Morgan took his place in the lineup.
