PREPS: Viking swimmers dominate winter All-League teams at Forest Grove High

What was, by most accounts, a disappointing winter sports season in Forest Grove came to a close last week with the release of Pacific Conference All-League teams.

Forest Grove had eight winter athletes earn All-League status, highlighted by a slew of accolades for the Vikings' boys and girls swim teams.

Junior Jon Rooker was a First Team All-League selection in both the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, while brother Dan Rooker, a senior, earned First Team status in the 200 individual medley and Second Team status in the 100 butterfly. Both brothers also earned Second Team status for their roles on the 400 free relay and 200 medley relay teams. They were joined on those teams by Jacob Cockeram and Nick Wallace.

Freshman Sharon Rooker was an Honorable Mention selection in the 100 backstroke and also the 200 medley relay, where she was joined by teammates Elisse Hansen, Madeline Allnutt and Kristin Stanley.

Senior Bryant Gilgan earned Honorable Mention status in wrestling for a fourth-place finish at 130 pounds at the district meet in early February.

Seniors Dusty Klein and Codey Hills were both Honorable Mention selections on the All-League boys basketball team, while seniors Kendra Berning and Taylor Janac earned Honorable Mention status on the All-League girls basketball squad.
