Talent-laden Pac-10 lies ahead for OSU

With conference play on horizon, Beavers kick off home schedule

The road to a Pac-10 baseball championship could wind through the desert this spring.

Arizona State and Arizona are ranked 1-2 in this week's Baseball America poll.

Three other Pac-10 teams get top-25 mention - UCLA (11th), California (12th) and Stanford (17th). Oregon State dropped from No. 22 the previous week after splitting a pair of games at Nevada.

Pac-10 action begins this week with two conference series - Arizona at Southern Cal, California at Washington State.

The two-time defending national champion Beavers open their Goss Stadium home season with three games against Pepperdine (13-5) Friday through Sunday. OSU begins Pac-10 play at home against Washington March 28 through March 30.
