Portland finished the season on a high note with a 3-2 shootout win against Spokane on Sunday at Memorial Coliseum. The Winter Hawks had an 11-58-2-1 record for 25 points, the franchise's all-time low.
• Portland scored the fewest goals in Western Hockey League history (132) and gave up 318, the second consecutive year the Hawks led the WHL in both categories.
Tribune player of the week: Matt Schmermund, 19, scored the game-winning goal against Spokane on a fancy spinning move in the fifth round of the shootout against Chief goalie Kevin Armstrong. Schmermund also scored in regulation. He finished with eight goals and 12 assists.
• Defenseman Travis Ehrhardt led Portland with 41 points (10 goals and 31 assists).
