A Scappoose man was killed Tuesday night in a traffic crash at the intersection of Highway 30 and Cornelius Pass Road.
Lonny Gene Friberg, 62, of Scappoose was driving a minivan when he attempted to make a left-hand turn from Cornelius Pass Road onto Highway 30. John Edwin Whitney, 68, of La Pine was headed eastbound in a Ford truck toward Portland when the crash occurred around 6:52 p.m.
Whitney was not injured in the crash.
Early investigation results indicate that one of the two drivers may have failed to stop at a red light, resulting in the crash.
Weather conditions are not believed to have played a part in the crash.
Highway 30 was closed for several hours, reopening shortly after midnight.
