Eleanor M. Dauernheim died March 11, 2008. She was 91.
Mrs. Dauernheim was born Eleanor Mary Margaret Koerner on Aug. 24, 1916, to Lawrence and Nellie (Fitzgerald) Koerner of Brooklyn, N.Y. She was one of eight children.
During her late teens she was a fashion model, and on Aug. 26, 1937 she married noted Long Island horticulturist Melville 'Mel' Augustus Dauernheim. The couple participated in the operation of the family greenhouses for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Dauernheim was an active member of Zonta, a national businesswomen's association and volunteered with Good Samaritan Hospital on Long Island. She was also a talented seamstress and made clothing for her daughters, granddaughters and their dolls.
Mr. Dauernheim died in 1990 and Mrs. Dauernheim has lived in Lake Oswego for the past four years.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Gale Ann and Gary Gipson of Lake Oswego, Jane Ellen and Bruce Trenheiser of Henderson, Nev., four granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on March 29 at Christ Church Episcopal Parish, 1060 Chandler Road, in Lake Oswego
Remembrances may be may to the Christ Church Outreach Commission.
Roger Franklin Johnson died Feb. 22, 2008, while vacationing on Maui. He was 55.
Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 16, 1953 in Portland.
He worked in pipeline and underground utility work during his professional career.
Mr. Johnson married his wife Sidney Garren on July 17, 1976 in Portland. The couple lived in the Tualatin and Lake Oswego area until 1988. The family moved to Gig Harbor, Wash., in 1993.
Survivors include his wife Sidney of Gig Harbor, sons Adam Johnson of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Aaron Johnson of Gig Harbor.
A memorial service will be held April 5 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club, 8209 Stinson Ave. in Gig Harbor, Wash.
Remembrances may be sent to 'The Human Fund,' dedicated to the development of Aaron's cycling career at 4405 126th Ct. NW, Gig Harbor, Wash., or to the American Heart Association.
Long-time Lake Oswego resident Ruby LouRene (Carlson) Upson died March 7, 2008. She was 98.
She was born Jan. 23, 1910, in Washington, Iowa and was raised in Port Wing, Wisc. She moved to the Portland area in 1929.
During her professional career she worked as a personnel manager for Charles F. Berg retail store and as a secretary for the Veterans Administration Hospital. She was president of the Progressive Business Women's Breakfast Club and enjoyed painting.
She married George Lyle Upson in 1963 and the couple moved to Lake Oswego in the late 1960s.
Survivors include her husband George Upson, son James Patrick Hendren and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, 4040 Sunset Drive in Lake Os-wego.
Remembrances may be sent to the church in her name.
