Tigers still unbeaten in early-season play

Softball: Tigard moves to 3-0-1 with its 4-3 victory over Gresham

TIGARD - The Tigard High School softball team continued its early-season strong play, scoring a come-from-behind 4-3 win over Gresham in a non-league game played Tuesday at Tigard High School.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 3-0-1 on the season.

Gresham, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning, took a 3-1 lead in the contest. But the Tigers answered back with three runs of their own bottom of the frame to get the one-run win.

Senior Heidi Pizer had the big hit of the inning for Tigard with a two-run home run - her second home run already this season.

Pizer went 3-for-3 at the plate in the win with a double and the home run. Sophomore Katie Aden had two hits and sophomore Chelsea Biglow had a hit and an RBI.

Junior Ashley Suter picked up the pitching win, striking out 12.

On Monday, the Tigers posted a 5-3 non-league win at Clackamas. Suter again was the winning pitcher, striking out 14 batters. She also had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Biglow doubled and scored twice and freshman Erin Nyberg had two hits and an RBI.

The Tigers started their season with a 12-5 win over Central Catholic.

Pizer belted a three-run home run in the first inning of that game. Meredith Masters had a pair of hits, as did Aden.

Suter struck out 13 batters.

Tigard also battled Westview to a 4-4 tie. Aden and Pizer each had two hits in that game and Suter struck out 10.

Tigard will be playing in the Medford Tournament over spring break.
