Cornelius boy dies after being pulled from Tualatin River
Police say Jorge Luis Garfia may have drowned in the river
Cornelius police are investigating the drowning death of a 4-year-old Cornelius boy.
According to police, Jorge Luis Garfia was pulled out of the Tualatin River at Steamboat Park in Cornelius around 4:12 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Officers from Cornelius, North Plains and Forest Grove provided CPR until they were relieved by emergency personnel.
Jorge was transported by LifeFlight helicopter to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, where he was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m.
Police say that Jorge lived near the park.
Cornelius Police Chief Paul Rubenstein wrote in a press release that officers are still investigating the death, and haven't yet determined the cause.
'But at this point in time,' Rubenstein wrote, 'this appears to be a tragic accidental death.'
