CCC plans alumni tourney, barbecue

OREGON CITY - Clackamas Community College's volleyball program has planned a spring volleyball tournament and alumni day for Saturday, April 26.

CCC coach Kathie Woods is asking former Clackamas Community College players to help get the word out and to contact assistant coach Lindsay Schiely if they will be able to attend.

The day will feature a tournament, which will be followed by a barbecue. The tournament will include a CCC alumni team, along with teams from Whatcom, Centralia, Wenatchee Valley, Treasure Valley and Clackamas.

Youth track starts today

MILWAUKIE - The Mustang Track Club, which serves the Milwaukie and Rex Putnam high school attendance areas, will begin practices on today (April 2) at the Milwaukie High School Track.

The practices will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Milwaukie High track.

Competition is on Saturdays, beginning in mid-April. Youth ages 8-18 may participate.

Registration is at the first practice.

The registration fee, which includes membership in USA Track and Field and a T-shirt, is $40. Family discounts are available.

TRL sports three top 10 teams

The state's Class 6A high school baseball coaches believe the Three Rivers League is going to be one of the toughest leagues in the state.

West Linn, Clackamas and Lake Oswego were ranked second, fourth and ninth respectively in last week's statewide coaches poll.

Lake Oswego and West Linn were scheduled to meet this week in their three-game series.

Clackamas goes head-to-head with Lake Oswego next week, hosting the Lakers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday (April 7) and on Friday (April 11).
