Students learn Wind-Power engineering

by: Jennifer Much Grund,

After introducing 2nd and 4th grade students to various types of engineering, engineer Dawn Rinehart, from Freightliner, taught the students at Holy Family School - on 39th in Eastmoreland - how to design wind-powered cars.

Using only a few simple supplies like paper, candy, straws and paper clips, the students built cars and raced against each other with the help of a fan.

Here, in the accompanying photo, second graders Sophie Worley and Grace Cooper proudly display the wind-powered car they created.
