Kenneth Francis Reade

Gresham resident Kenneth Francis Reade, 79, died Wednesday, March 26, at Providence Portland Medical Center.
At his request, no services were held. His ashes will be transported to Ireland at a later date.
Kenneth was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Dublin, Ireland, to James and Henrietta Reade. He was educated in Dublin.
On July 31, 1965, he married Joyce Welch in San Diego.
Kenneth started working for American Express in the early 1950s and had several overseas assignments in countries including Lebanon, India, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. After moving to Oregon in 1968, he worked in the travel industry until his retirement in 1985.
Kenneth was involved in youth soccer in the Gresham area as a coach and referee. He was a devoted follower of the sport for his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Kenneth James Reade of Lebanon, N.H., and Kevin Patrick Reade of Idaho; brother, Edward Reade of Dublin; and three grandchildren.

Harold Leon Lorenzo

Gresham resident Harold Leon Lorenzo, 64, died Wednesday, April 2, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd.
Harold was born Aug. 12, 1943, in Astoria to Howard and Emma (Rigsby) Lorenzo. He graduated from Bandon High School in 1961. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
In 1964, he married Leah I. Hendrickson.
Harold was the owner and operator of L and S Construction in Gresham until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 114.
Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting coins and playing with his grandchildren. He loved to restore older Ford cars, and he was a NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003.
Survivors include his son, David Lorenzo of Sandy; daughters, Debra Lorenzo of Gresham, Lyn Chaness of Gresham, Jennifer Lorenzo of Gresham, Paris Dykes of Gresham, and Cheynne Dykes of Gresham; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Kenneth M. Roberts

Former Sandy resident Kenneth M. Roberts, 88, died Monday, March 31, in Poulsbo, Wash.
A private memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, followed by interment.
Kenneth was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Sandy to John and Grace (France) Roberts, a descendant of a Sandy pioneer family. He graduated from Sandy High School in 1938, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team that participated in the 19th state basketball tournament.
Kenneth received a degree in civil engineering in 1942 from Oregon State College. He then enlisted in the Army and served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, earning the rank of captain. He served in the Philippines and in Alaska, where he supervised the extension and relocation of part of the Alaskan Railroad. After the war, he remained in the reserves until his honorable discharge in 1954.
On July 30, 1944, he married Mary Hope Smith of Milwaukie. After her death, he married Vivian Nelson in Kent, Wash., in 1984.
Kenneth held managerial positions with Mobil Oil Corp. in Portland, Los Angeles, New York and Seattle. He retired in 1983 after 38 years of service. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He once hit a hole-in-one in 1974 at Oak Hills Park Golf Course in Norwalk, Conn.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, in 1982; and brother, Cyril Roberts.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Anne Weatherill of Corpus Christi, Texas, Catherine Giovinco of Florence, and Janice Rankin of Damascus; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lawrence G. Bowe

Troutdale resident Lawrence G. Bowe, 78, died Thursday, April 3, at his home after a prolonged illness.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 7, at Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes, 11667 S.E. Stevens Road, Portland. A public funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Sunnyside. Interment will follow at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd., Portland.
Larry was born Jan. 4, 1930, in Portland to George and May (Cochran) Bowe. He was raised in the Sellwood neighborhood and graduated from Benson High School. He later served in the Coast Guard from 1947 to 1949.
On Feb. 10, 1950, he married Florence Chappell in Portland.
Larry worked on the waterfront and belonged to Local 40 of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union.
Larry was a member of Troutdale Community Church. He enjoyed working with wood, making collages, and collecting baseball cards and coins. He was a cribbage player 'extraordinaire,' and he taught his daughters and his grandson to play.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Bowe.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Patricia Doebler of Sutherlin and Linda Abitz of Port Richey, Fla.; sister, Georgia Ann Bowe of Portland; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
