Armed, masked men harass bar patron in Gaston

Washington County Sheriff's Office suspects the duo may have been plotting a robbery

Two armed, masked men confronted a man walking out of the Ace Tavern in Gaston last Sunday, and now detectives are trying to figure out who they are.

The victim told Washington County Sheriff's deputies that as he was leaving the Ace Tavern at about 11:30 p.m. on March 30, two masked men told him not to go back inside.

The victim told deputies that the two men were crouched behind a car near the Tavern, 112 Front St., one holding a pistol, the other a rifle.

Sheriff's deputies contacted the bartender of the tavern, and was told the two men never entered the bar.

The Sheriff's Office, which provides Gaston with police service, obtained video of the two men which corroborates the victim's story.

But who the men are is still a mystery.

The two men are described as white males, between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot tall. Both were wearing ski masks at the time.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call sheriff's detectives, 503-846-2500.
