A Welches woman survived a collision with a freshly cut section of a large tree and walked away from the scene.

Nineteen-year-old Alissa Seifert was traveling west on Highway 26 Saturday morning, April 5, when her Subaru Legacy SUV slid off the road near milepost 33 due to accumulated slush. The SUV struck a section of a large Douglas fir tree on the side of the road.

The top of the log crushed the passenger side door of the vehicle, and the Subaru rolled over the top of the log, eventually landing upright.

Seifert received minor injuries, according to Oregon State Police troopers at the scene, but she did receive citations for driving while suspended and driving while uninsured.
