Sí, park district will have registration in Spanish
- Beaverton Valley Times - News
For the first time, the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District will offer Spanish language assistance during phone-in registration for summer classes and programs. The service will be available April 19 and 20.
General Manager Doug Menke said the park district intends to provide the best possible service to all residents, and recent research showed the need for additional outreach to Spanish-speaking residents.
'The research challenged us to increase Latino awareness of district programs and make access easier for Latino residents,' said Menke. 'Providing Spanish-speaking operators the first two days of registration is a first step in that effort.'
All classes and programs are first-come, first-served and many classes are in high demand.
Phone-in registration for all residents will start Saturday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continue on Sunday, April 20, from noon to 4 p.m.
The number to call is 503-439-9400.
Residents who want to register on the phone must have class information handy, along with credit card or debit information and a valid THPRD Residency Card. Residents can register only for their own immediate family.
Online registration for district residents starts April 19 at 10 a.m. Users should go to www.thprd.org/activities to get started. Walk-in registration begins April 21 at 8:20 a.m.
For people who live outside the district, registration will begin on April 25 at 8:30 a.m. Those who have paid an assessment fee, may register by phone, fax, Internet, mail or walk-in starting that day. The fee is $52 quarterly or $208 annually.
Formed in 1955, the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District is the largest special park district in Oregon. The park district offers a broad range of classes and more than 200 park sites, 35 miles of trails, eight swim centers, three recreation centers, and 1,100 acres of nature preserve.
