UPDATE: Victim's name released

Multiple public safety agencies are investigating the Friday morning, April 11, death of a man on Hudson Road north of Sandy.

Authorities received a 9-1-1 call just before 9 Friday morning, reporting someone had been burned at Wayne Stone Logging Inc. at 39120 Hudson Road (map). The call abruptly ended.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a man - later identified as equipment mechanic Robert Rolph, 61, of Sandy - laying in the doorway and two small fires inside. Responders attempted to revive the man unsuccessfully.

Preliminary investigation indicates that an accidental fire started while Rolph was washing an energized fuel pump in a solvent cleaning tank. The victim died as a result of the injuries sustained related to the industrial fire.

The Sandy and Boring fire districts, the State Fire Marshal, Oregon State Police, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and the Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene.

The investigation is now being led by Oregon OSHA, a division of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services.
