Tigard embarks on park master plan update
The Tigard Park and Recreation Advisory Board is asking for public attendance at its inaugural workshop to begin an update of the park system master plan.
The workshop will be a part of the regular monthly Park and Recreation Advisory Board meeting held April 14. The advisory board meetings are held at the Public Works Building auditorium, located at 8777 S.W. Burnham St. Meetings start at 7 p.m.
The board intends to explore several questions during the workshop, including an assessment of the current parks situation, future goals and how to achieve them, and the city's strengths, weaknesses and opportunities relative to its parks, recreation and open-space mission.
Public comment will be limited due to time constraints. People in attendance will be able to submit written comment to the parks advisory board, and there will be many future opportunities for public input.
Some of those opportunities will occur during the following processes: focus groups, stakeholder interviews, community intercept interviews, community surveys and questionnaires, visioning discussions at workshops and public hearings.
More information about public comment opportunities will be presented at the April 14 meeting.
