Next: Portland plays four games at Colorado Springs, Tuesday through Friday, before starting a four-game series with Salt Lake at PGE Park on Friday.

• The Beavers, pounding the ball but struggling on the mound, had lost five of six games entering Monday's Salt Lake series finale.

• The parent San Diego Padres promoted catcher Colt Morton from Class AA San Antonio last week. Morton had been sent to Double-A, while Nick Hundley plays in Portland. Morton got the call with Michael Barrett (sprained elbow) out two to eight weeks.

• When will Chase Headley get the call to the Padres? San Diego's Scott Hairston (.239, two HRs, four RBIs) and Paul McAnulty (.227, one RBI) weren't exactly tearing it up through 13 games.

• Entering Monday, Luis Rodriguez was hitting .577 in a seven-game hitting streak. Matt Antonelli stroked his first two Triple-A homers and Chase Headley went deep for the first time for Portland during the Salt Lake series. Will Venable went 4 for 5 with two doubles and a triple on Saturday.
