Leon 'Bud' Smith Jr.

Leon 'Bud' Smith, Jr. died March 27, 2008 from complications related to a stroke. He was 77.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 10, 1930, to Leon and Marie Adelaide Smith, Sr. Mr. Smith is a direct descendent of Lot Whitcombe, founder of the city of Milwaukie.

He graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School and served in the U.S. Navy as air overhaul and repair support during the Korean War.

Mr. Smith married Kathleen Joanne Logan in 1951.

During his professional career, Mr. Smith owned and operated N.W. Tackle and Romara Marble. He was the club manager of the Lake Oswego Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife Kathy, daughters Judy Rieder and Terri Waite, his brother Tom Smith, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at the Oaks Pioneer Church in Sellwood, 455 S.E. Spokane St.

Remembrances may be given to Hospice Care of the Northwest.
