Softball: Portland State has another huge weekend coming up at Erv Lind Stadium. The Vikings (7-5 in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference) split four games last weekend at home with Saint Mary's (7-5). League-leading Loyola Marymount (8-4) visits for noon doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday. Also in the race is Sacramento State (6-6), and the Vikings wrap up the regular season with four games at Santa Clara (5-7) May 3 and May 4. Junior first baseman Jana Rae Slayton led the PSU offense last week, going 6 for 13 with five RBIs and a home run. … Oregon State (26-21, 4-6 Pac-10) plays host to Oregon (28-20, 1-9) at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Beavers beat the Ducks 3-1 Friday to clinch a 9-8 victory in the 11-sport Northwest Dodge Dealers Civil War series for 2007-08. Both Oregon schools are in Arizona this weekend.
Baseball: Concordia University will wrap up 60-plus years on its field this weekend. The school will build a library and learning center on the site, along with an adjacent complex for baseball and soccer, to open in 2010. A 1 p.m. Saturday doubleheader with Oregon Tech will be the final official games on the diamond. A dinner with former Cavalier coaches is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday. At noon Sunday, the Cavs will have an alumni doubleheader and barbecue. … The Portland Pilots welcome Washington to Joe Etzel Field at 3 today. UP (17-23, 2-10 West Coast Conference) plays at OSU on Wednesday, resuming a suspended game at 2 p.m. and meeting the Beavers at 5 p.m.
