Cavaliers sixth at Westview

Track and field

PORTLAND - Clackamas had only one individual champion and the Cavaliers placed sixth in a competitive eight-team field at the Westview Team Challenge track and field meet, held here Friday.

Sunset finished on top in the combined boys and girls scoring, with 943 points.

The Apollos were followed by Grant (918-1/2), Westview (820-1/2), Barlow (694), Sheldon (667-1/2), Clackamas 638, McKay (574-1/2) and McMinnville (446).

Lilly Schoenheit cleared 5-2 in the high jump for the Cavaliers' only win.

Megan Sachet (16-3) was runner-up in the girls long jump and Meryl Butcher (1:01.2) was runner-up in the 400.

Clackamas boys had four runners-up: Gabe Garza in the 400 (50.6), John Paden in the 800 (2:03.0), Zach Marx in the 3,000 (8:59.3) and Kyle Salgado in the pole vault (13-6).
