Reported gun sighting locks down three schools
UPDATE: No gun found
Three schools in the Oregon Trail School District went into lockdown at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, after a student reported seeing a person drive by Sandy Grade School pointing a gun through the window of his vehicle.
Sandy Grade, Cedar Ridge, and Sandy High were locked down, due to their proximity.
Sandy Police subsequently apprehended two suspects, and the schools were released from lockdown at approximately 2:30 p.m.
No gun was found on the detained individuals, and authorities report that no arrests have been made.
The incident is still under investigation.
The staff at each of the three schools followed district procedures for keeping all students and staff safe and secure.
