The Beaverton gym's girls teams win nine state titles at '08 state
The Oregon Gymnastics Academy's girls teams took home a total of nine state championships at the 2008 Oregon State Gymnastics Champion-ships, held April 5-6 in Medford, OR.
OGA's strong showing was highlighted by one state team title and eight individual state titles, with 12 athletes qualifying for the upcoming Regional Championships.
The Level 8 team took home three individual titles, highlighted by Roberta McNary-Rosso winning the All-Around state crown.
Ashley Amick led the Level 9 team, with victories on both vault and uneven parallel bars, while also finishing second in the All-Around scoring. Kelly Martin won the balance beam title and finished third All-Around.
Makala Holland qualified for the Regional Champion-ships in both vault and beam, while McKenzie Johnson qualified for regionals in the floor exercise. Maddie O'Leary and Rachel Mitchell also took home state titles in the vault in their respective age groups. The Level 8 team also won the state team title.
Their strong performances helped the Level 9 Team take home a 2nd place finish.
The Level 7 team was the last to perform, with Vanessa Fuller taking home the vault title, while Kylie McCurdy finished second in the All-Around.
