'It's good to be home'
Debbie Alvarado has been planning events for 26 years. The grand opening of her new storefront in Estacada was Thursday, April 24. She recently moved her shop from Clackamas.
Events, Etc. plans and decorates theme parties; weddings; fundraisers; corporate events and conferences; holiday celebrations; golf tournaments; retreats and more. They will soon be subleasing the ballroom upstairs in the old Masons lodge for public events.
Alvarado started Events, Etc as a way to help people in the community to get out more, enjoy each other's company and to express their appreciation of others, she said. 'People need to get together more and talk, build personal relationships and get to know each other rather than being all alone with cell phones, computers, and games. I think people are ready to unite. Hopefully, the ballroom will help with that,' she said.
Alvarado has an artistic background and it shows in a flair for her work. Her grandmother was in opera. She worked with her grandfather as a set designer. All of these aspects of her life have led her to where she is today.
Although she strives to conduct business locally, Alvarado regularly meets with clients throughout the state and even Northern California.
'It's good to be home. It's like starting a whole new life for me,' Alvarado said of her new location. 'We have an extraordinary community here. I hope to offer services that will compliment what we already have here in Estacada.'
