Lions have a bad track day at Glencoe

Boys and girls can't keep pace

It just was one of those days for both the St. Helens boys' and girls' track teams on Wednesday at Glencoe.

'The meet was not a good one for us,' St. Helens coach Gerry Tinkle said. 'Our young boys' squad was a little overwhelmed, but competed well. Cody Jones had some good races. The girls had a few things go wrong at the beginning of the meet, so we dug ourselves a hole that we couldn't get out of.'

Haley Rick again led the girls with firsts in both sprint events, the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while Koti Nelson took firsts in both the triple jump and long jump. Alisha Haresnape posted a first in the 3000, and Kiana Saluni won the javelin.

St. Helens' boys did have some event winners in the meet. Jones took firsts in both the 100- and 200-meter sprints, and Justin Schlaht won the javelin.
