Tennis team routs Parkrose, falls to Glencoe
Squad preps for district this week
The St. Helens High boys' tennis team had no problems in handing Parkrose an 8-0 loss, but had some lapses in singles matches against Glencoe.
The team was preparing for the conference district tournament early this week, but didn't draw well in seeding for singles. They had better luck in the doubles draw.
The Lions' top singles players drew the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the tournament-Glencoe players Stuart Tierney and Micah Leo. Matt Parker and Brody Pelletier will have to face them in the first matches of the tournament.
Doubles players Riley Tamblyn and Brad Stewart, plus the duo of David Dunnington and Danny Wert got much better draws for the doubles tournament and have a good chance to advance, St. Helens coach Dr. Gary Loosli said.
Last week, St. Helens won all of their matches against Parkrose on Thursday with only two going three sets. Earlier in the week, they gave Glencoe a good match, but won only one singles and one doubles match.
