State Sen. Mark Hass hosts a public job fair for people looking for work and for employers looking for people this weekend.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Portland Community College's Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. It's an opportunity for people to meet local employers, get access to resources and enjoy a networking lunch hosted by Hass.

'Oregon is still struggling with a 10 percent unemployment rate,' Hass said. 'This is a forum with a simple purpose: to bring together the needs of businesses who need people and people who need jobs.'

Partners for this event include: AT and T, Comcast, Fred Meyer, Haney Truck Line, Goodwill Job Connections, Lile Relocation Services, Man Power, Oregon National Guard, Northwest Culinary Institute, Oregon Department of Transportation, Olive Garden, Plaid Pantry, Platt Electric, Portland Community College, Right at Home, Solar World, Stream Global Services, Unitus Community Credit Union and Washington County.

Hass said no public funds are being used to hold the job fair. Funding for the event comes from private donations the senator has raised.
