Beaverton schools invite public to Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Concert

Eight Beaverton school choirs and a Polynesian dance group will present a Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Concert on Wednesday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Beaverton Uwajimaya parking lot, 10500 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. Admission is free and donations collected will benefit the Japanese people through Mercy Corps.

Participating groups include Aloha Huber Park Elementary Choir, Bonny Slope Elementary Choir, Elmonica Polynesian Dancers, Errol Hassell Elementary Choir, Findley Elementary Choir, Hazeldale Elementary Choir, Kinnaman Elementary Choir, Mountain View Middle School Girls Choir and Vose Elementary Choir.

Each choir will perform and the concert will conclude with more than 200 children joining in song. Participants who donate at the event will get their name written in Japanese on the event banner with the help of volunteers from Portland Community College.
