An experienced climber fell to his death Saturday afternoon while climbing with three other people at Rocky Butte.

Portland Fire and Rescue crews were called to the east side of the butte at about 2 p.m., where they found the man at the bottom of a sheer rock face. He had fallen about 50 feet.

The man's name has not been released. He and a climbing companion were visiting from Austria.
