Portland's Sunday Parkways takes a ride on the east side May 22.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes a seven-mile route connecting Lents, Bloomington, Ed Benedict and Gilbert Heights parks on some car-free streets and a long section of the Springwater Trail.

All other streets will be open for vehicular traffic.

A Metro mini-disc golf course will be set up in Ed Benedict Park. Kaiser Permanente and Playworks will be part of a Kids Fair at Gilbert Heights Park. Dance classes are scheduled by Portland Parks and Recreation at Ed Benedict and Lents parks. A soccer skills and tournament is planned at Bloomington Park.

The city's Sunday Parkways presented by Kaiser Permanente tries to connect Portlanders to their neighbors and get some exercise. The Portland Bureau of Transportation, Kaiser Permanente and Metro host five Sunday Parkways events this year.
