One Ummah Foundation, a nonprofit charity that helps build and support schools in Pakistan and around the world, has teamed up with Bat Works, LLC, an international business and security-consulting firm, to develop a cultural discovery trip to the northern areas of Pakistan for Summer 2008.

An informational meeting to learn about the trip will be held Wednesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. at the West End Building, 4101 Kruse Way in Lake Oswego.

The purpose of the trip is to give visitors a sense of the conditions in Pakistan, as well as the people of rural Pakistan, where modestly funded projects can do so much good. The travelers will have the opportunity to visit villages and schools of the region, some of which are written about in Three Cups of Tea.

During the evening presentation, Bat Works executives will lay out the plan for the trip. Interested persons will have the opportunity to discuss the trip with members of the One Ummah Foundation and Bat Works, LLC.

To reserve a seat in the presentation, please call OUF board member Nora Semonsen at 503-636-4453 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
