He later moved to the United States.

He attended Portland State Univer-sity and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He entered Mount Angel Seminary in St. Benedict (northwest of Silverton) in the fall of 2000, earning a master of divinity degree in 2008.

His ministry training has included experiences at St. Joseph Parish, Salem, Queen of Peace, Salem, Mac-Laren Youth Correct-ional Facility, Wood-burn, St. Peter Prov-idence Hospital, Olym-pia, Wash., and St. John the Baptist Parish in Milwaukie.
