A tugboat captain found a body in the Willamette River in North Portland, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, which patrols the rivers.

Sheriff's deputies say the body is that of an adult who has apparently been in the water for some time. No other details were immediately available, including the name or even gender of the deceased.

According to deputies, the body was first seen at about 7 a.m. Friday in the Swan Island area near Terminal 2, which is operated by the Port of Portland. Deputies recovered it and are investigating by looking into past missing persons reports.
