Cornelius man missing after fishing trip
Police find the boat of Jeffrey Ferguson anchored, but can't find the man days after he set out in the Multnomah Channel Friday
Police say it is unlikely that Jeffrey Ferguson, a veteran fisherman from Cornelius, could survive in the chilly waters of the Multnomah Channel, where he disappeared over the weekend.
Ferguson left Scappoose Bay Marina Friday afternoon and while investigators found his boat, with his fishing pole and life jacket inside, they've found no trace of him since his disappearance.
On Monday, investigators called off the search, moving into recovery mode.
Sgt. Russ George, of the Columbia County Sheriff's office, said it was unlikely Ferguson could survive in the 48-degree water of the Willamette Channel this long.
According to KGW news, Ferguson, 51, was an avid fisherman with 20 years of experience.
