Animal neglect arrest

Lake Oswego Police arrested a woman Aug. 6 after the death of a dog left inside her parked car.

Police received a call at 4:22 p.m. that a dog tied inside a gray jeep on Thunder Vista Lane had tried to jump out of a window and hung itself from its leash.

Officer Josh Day found the dog and its owner, who was visiting the area. The woman had apparently left the dog inside the jeep for several hours.

The dog had a water dish but no food. It tried to jump through a window that was partially rolled down but was hanged when its leash, which was tied inside to a car seat, was too short to reach the ground.

Mary Ann Galvin, 61, was cited and released for first-degree animal neglect, a misdemeanor.
