Chamber cancels Erickson-Schrader debate
- Lake Oswego Review - News
The Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce's debate that was to feature congressional candidates Mike Erickson, a Republican from Lake Oswego, and Kurt Schrader, a Democrat from Canby, has been canceled because chamber organizers could not connect with Erickson.
The two men are running for Darlene Hooley's soon-to-be vacant seat in Oregon House District 5.
No firm date had ever been set for the Lake Oswego debate.
'I don't know what happened,' said chamber of commerce CEO Jerry Wheeler. 'I called and e-mailed (Erickson) several times and never got a response. Either someone in his organization didn't pass the messages along or what, I don't know.'
When asked if the debate would be scheduled at a later date, Wheeler replied, 'No at this point. We have our mayoral and city council forum on Oct. 7, and a Fusion event on Oct. 22,' Wheeler said.
The public forum on Oct. 7 is a 7 a.m. breakfast event at Oswego Lake Country Club. Cost is $20; call the chamber office at 503-636-3634 to make a reservation.
