Rickey Lee Watson, 28, charged in December incident
Portland police have made an arrest in a bias case that occurred late last year.
Rickey Lee Watson, 28, was arrested on Thursday on two counts of assault in the fourth degree and two counts of intimidation in the second degree.
According to police, at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2010, Central Precinct officers contacted Mufeed Yacoub, 21, and Sherif Youssef, 23. The two men told police that while they were socializing at a downtown Portland nightclub earlier in the evening, a man later identified as Watson physically confronted them in the bar area. Yacoub broke away from the Watson and walked away.
Less than a minute later, Watson followed Yacoub and Youssef into the bathroom of the establishment. Yacoub told police that when he turned toward the Watson, Watson made racial slurs and assaulted both men, knocking them unconscious. Watson then fled the bar.
Detectives identified Watson as a suspect in January and released his photograph to the public. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail with bail set at $10,000.
