A search-and-rescue dog successfully located an injured woman Sept. 9 after the woman went missing in Springbrook Park.
The woman, who was not identified, was reported missing by her son shortly after 7 a.m. She left her home at about 6 p.m. the previous evening and failed to return from a walk.
A police dog handled by Officer Bryan McMahon was called to the scene and began tracking the woman at the entrance to Springbrook Park.
The dog followed her scent approximately 50 yards off a path into a heavily wooded area, then circled around a downed tree and began barking.
The missing woman was found lying underneath the tree in some ivy. She was unconscious and taken by ambulance to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital.
