SE neighborhood gang shooting wounds two

UPDATE • 24-year-old man held in connection with the incident

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday in connection with a late Saturday night shooting that wounded two people in a Southeast Portland neighborhood.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Gang Team arrested Leonard Brightmon on a parole violation in connection with the shooting investigation. Brightmon was lodged in the Multnomah County Detention Center in downtown Portland.

Police said officers were called at about 11:23 p.m. Saturday, May 28, to the 100 block of Southeast 129nd Avenue, where shots had been fired. They found a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy who had been injured in the shooting.

Both were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening wounds. Their names and medical conditions were not released.

The city's Gang Enforcement Team detectives are investigating the shooting.
