UPDATE • Victim was a 54-year-old woman whose body was found in the building
Police have ruled that the death of a Gladstone beautician over the weekend was a homicide.
The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team has been investigating the death of 54-year-old Debbie Lee Higbee Benton, which happened in Gladstone Saturday night.
According to investigators, police and medics responded to a death at the Gladstone Beauty Salon, 430 Portland Ave., where they found Higbee Benton's body. The Clackamas County medical examiner determined at that time that the death was suspicious.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area of the Gladstone Beauty Salon on Saturday between 3:30 and 8:30 p.m. to provide police with information by calling Crime Stoppers, 503-786-7577.
Benton was in a relationship with a Gladstone Police Sgt. Lynne Benton, so the case was handed to the county's Major Crime Team to investigate.
There are no suspects and no persons of interest at this time.
