Gresham man dies in crash west of Government Camp on May 30
A Gresham man died in a single vehicle crash one mile west of Government Camp on Monday night, May 30.
Victor Gonzalez, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At about 11:50 p.m., deputies, firefighters and Oregon Department of Transportation personnel responded to the crash on Highway 26. The responders found Gonzalez dead, lying near the road.
The preliminary investigation indicated Gonzalez was headed eastbound in his 1989 Nissan pickup when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a guardrail. Gonzalez, who was the only occupant, was ejected from the vehicle.
Gonzalez was not wearing a seat belt and had been driving with a suspended license.
The Oregon State Police were still investigating Monday's crash early Tuesday. This was the third fatal traffic crash OSP investigated during Memorial Day weekend.
