Time to get pumpkins

by: Nicole DeCosta, Tucker Hamilton, 12, said his family displays pumpkins on hay bales and a wagon.

Open every day in October, Ryser's Farm is the place for locals to get pumpkins. Located at 22560 SW Stafford Road - between West Linn and Wilsonville - the five-acre family farm is alive with fall colors.

And Jerry Ryser said visitors have walked away with more than pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and mini straw bales.

'We created an area for them to take pictures,' he said.

Cade, 6, and his sister Tate, 3, enjoyed watching the chickens on an outing with their grandma to the farm.

'I like the black one,' Tate said, pointing at the chickens. 'They're so cute.'

'We like pumpkins,' Cade said.

And so did Tucker Hamilton, 12, tromping through the field in search of two small, two medium and two large pumpkins.

'It's for a display on our porch,' he said. 'You have to have the perfect sized pumpkins.'

Ryser said locals can sip apple cider from their antique cider press - free at 1 p.m. on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25. For more information about Ryser's Farm, call 503-638-0886.
